Company History
In 1994, Bob Rimol, founder of Rimol Greenhouse Systems, decided leave New Jersey to relocate to New Hampshire and, Rimol Greenhouse Systems began as a manufacturer’s representative specializing in structures and systems. However, Bob soon realized the need to build a better “mouse trap” and set out to customize greenhouse technology to suit the needs of his customers.
Bob contacted a fellow University of Vermont graduate who had settled in Williston, Vermont. Combining their talents in engineering and horticulture with a mutual entrepreneurial spirit, the first Rimol Greenhouse was designed.
The goal for the first two greenhouses were very simple. Utilize the best features of several of the different greenhouses that were currently being sold and combine them into a low cost, yet high quality greenhouse. The Northpoint greenhouse was developed with multi-functional use to be both a growing house and a retail house. The Catamount was developed as being a growing house and an “over wintering” house. Both, the Northpoint and Catamount were also designed to take heavy snow loads. The Northpoint and Catamount greenhouses were created to reflect and endure the rugged New England climate.
Today, Rimol Greenhouse Systems has expanded their product line to include a number of free-standing greenhouses, a gutter connect greenhouse called the Matterhorn, shade structures, benches and an entire line of products to compliment the greenhouse structures. All greenhouses have been developed to be economical, yet rugged enough to handle the harshest snow and wind loads that New England and other regions of the country endure. Rimol Greenhouse Systems now has products all over the United States.
Staff / Product Specialists
- Bob Rimol - Owner, Mid-Atlantic and Rocky Mountain Sales
Bob Rimol, owner and founder of Rimol Greenhouse Systems in Hooksett, NH, has spent part of his life a New Englander, yet it seems fitting that he was born and raised in the Garden State. Bob adopted a passion for landscaping and gardening as a teen. “I was one of the few kids in the neighborhood whose parents never had to ask to do yard work, since I was always outside doing a project anyway!” Bob’s passion for gardening and agriculture led him to the University of Vermont where he graduated with a degree in Agricultural and Resource Economics. It is at the University of Vermont where Bob’s interests broadened, learning about both horticulture and agriculture and the issues facing farmers and small businesses in the green industry.
After Bob graduated college, he returned to New Jersey working in the family business and for several greenhouse suppliers. In 1994, Bob decided to relocate back to New England to raise his family and to establish himself as an entrepreneur in the Greenhouse industry. The founding of Rimol Associates, which later became Rimol Greenhouse Systems, coincided with the birth of Bob and Karen’s 2nd child in 1994. “I always know the anniversary of the business every year when my daughter has her birthday.”
As Bob’s business has grown, so has his family. Today Bob, his wife, Karen, and their 3 children, Kaitlyn, Meghan and Matthew live in Southern New Hampshire. Bob enjoys being involved as a softball coach for his two older daughters, and a soccer coach for his son’s team. “Being a coach is a great way for me to spend time with my kids. It keeps me in shape, too!” Although there is not much free time left, Bob also enjoys gardening, working around the house, running and skiing.
- Mike Marrett - Owner, Customer Service and Operations
Mike Marett, co-owner of RGS, joined Bob in 1999 as the business expanded to become a manufacturer of greenhouse structures. Mike grew up in a small Midwestern town just south of Cleveland, Ohio. He worked on farms as a teenager and developed an interest in agriculture and growing. After graduating from Ohio State University, Mike spent six years on active duty in the U. S. Navy and recently retired from the Naval Reserve. Mike’s experience in the Navy led him on a career path towards manufacturing, quality control and operations.
Mike, and his wife Cindy are raising their three children in Southern New Hampshire. A family friendship developed between the Maretts and the Rimols when their children were young. As Mike learned more about the values and goals of RGS, an inevitable merging of the minds occurred in 1999 when Mike joined Bob to further the mission of RGS.
Mike keeps busy with family as a top priority. He is active as a baseball coach for his son Ryan and enjoys involvement in a local father/daughter organization with Amanda and Jordan. Mike also enjoys golf, camping and other outdoor activities.
- David Ransome - NY State and Upper Midwest Sales
Dave grew up in Northern New York near Watertown. During Dave’s high school years, he worked at a local nursery and developed an interest in the horticultural trade.
Upon graduation from high school, Dave enlisted in the U.S. Navy spending three years working on a tugboat stationed out of Jacksonville, Florida.
He spent most of this time in Guantanamo Bay assisting other Navy vessels near Cuba during some turbulent times.
After leaving the Navy, Dave went back to school to receive a degree in Horticulture from SUNY, Cobleskill. This lead Dave down a path as a landscape designer and nursery manager.
Dave changed his career focus and worked in sales for a greenhouse supplier before joining Rimol Greenhouse Systems. Dave enjoyed the market dedicated to structures and systems, and in 2003, Dave joined RGS as the Regional Sales Manager for New York State and the Midwest where he can carry out his passion for designing and implementing greenhouse projects.
Dave now resides in Fairport, New York, just 1outside Rochester with his wife Jennifer. Dave has two daughters, Emily and Morgan. Dave enjoys his summers at a family cottage in Sackets Harbor, fly fishing and restoring an old wooden boat.
- John Wells - New England, Lower Midwest and West Coast Sales
John Wells joined the Rimol Greenhouse Systems team in 2005 to cover sales and service of the New England region. John brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from his diverse background in the Greenhouse and horticulture industry.
After attending Louisiana Tech University, John went to work for a large grower in Virginia. It was there that John learned to appreciate the luxury of automation, and gained an understanding of the sensitive needs of a growing environment.
Up for an adventure and a change of scenery, John moved to the West Coast, working for a grower in California who specialized in vegetative propagation. Eventually, the lure of family connections drew John and his wife to New Hampshire to settle and raise their family.
Upon his return to New England, John worked for a grower in a fast paced, marketing-oriented company. It was this experience that led John in the direction of sales, and to his current position at Rimol Greenhouse Systems.
“This industry is a great one, as there are so many levels to apply yourself. You can choose to be well connected to the earth and farm or be on the cutting edge of biotechnology or somewhere in between. Being is sales allows me to meet so many people all over the region. I see hard work, talent and ability come together into success. This is an exciting time in our industry. Things are changing quickly, sometimes more quickly than we like, and improvements are happening just as fast.”
